LOOK / Miroslav Tichy

TichyMiroslav Tichy was a photographer from Czech Republic who voyeuristically photographed women around his hometown of Kyjov during the 60s and 70s. His reason for taking to the streets was largely due to the Soviet occupation of Czech Republic and subsequent nationalization of private property – Miroslav was evicted from his studio and his work thrown into the streets.

Tichy made use of a homemade camera that he constructed from scraps he found, including the lenses of reading glasses.

“If you want to be famous, you must do something more badly than anybody in the entire world.” – Miroslav Tichy
